Paper is free. Given away in every cafe and bar, thrust upon us on street corners, delivered daily through our letterboxes.
Inspired by the ancient Book of Formation these paper sculptures are the culmination of four years investigation into the structural nature of this most abused and wastefully disregarded medium.
Using only recycled materials, sometimes single sheets, sometimes groups of three, twelve or more: each form is precisely hand folded by unique methods of my own devising. To abide by the spirit of oriental origami, sheets are never cut or torn, and adhesives are only ever used to secure an already stable structure.
This is not the familiar origami of the lucky crane and the jumping frog, but a fundamental exegesis of the nature of folding and geometry.
I am a professional graphic designer and have lived and worked in Brighton and Hove for nearly ten years.
