I moved down to Hove three and a half years ago after a long career as an infants' teacher and historian near Windsor. Once here I was delighted to find so many life drawing courses and drop-in life studios as this was what I had most enjoyed during the year I spent at Wimbledon College of Art after leaving school.

My interest is quite specifically in the act of drawing, rather than painting. By using soft pastels I am able to work in colour while retaining the direct feel of making a line on paper. I always work from the life model rather than from photographs.

Sometimes it is the psychological drama of a pose which is my focus, at others the play of strong light and shade on the human form, or just sheer sensual delight in the physicality of both male and female models.

I have only recently begun to exhibit my work, at the Sussex Arts Club in Brighton and at the Society of Graphic Fine Arts exhibitions at the Menier Gallery in London.
